This popular modern Spanish Moss Trail follows the route of a defunct railway line. The Magnolia Line at one time connected Yemassee (a small town near Interstate 95) and Port Royal. Planners at one point took steps to implement light rail along portions of this route.(2) Currently a scenic trail follows the old Magnolia Line route into Beaufort.

Eventually, this trail will form part of a 16-mile long network of hike and bike paths interconnecting sections of Downtown Beaufort with Downtown Port Royal.
